The Zip on these Strips - Chili's

For the longest time, I thought that Chili's had the best chicken strips. I mean, for years I loved them because of how they were battered. They were crispy, the chicken inside juicy, and they worked great with a strawberry lemonade.

But after this trip, I wasn't so sure anymore.

LOOK: The picture is right there and as you can see those strips were looking fresh. Just looking at the picture again my mouth is watering. They had a great mix of crunchy and not so crunchy coating from the difference in brown shades on the outside.

TASTE: The first bite was great. It was warm and juicy yet still crunchy. However, after the initial taste, there was an almost rubbery aftertaste that was not great at all. One of them had chicken that was... crunchy? Like it hadn't been cooked all the way through. Since the meat wasn't pink or anything, that leads me to believe that it as frozen before being fried again, but that is purely speculation.

I feel like my Fiance and I go to Chili's about once every two or three months, and I always get these. Maybe I was a naive chicken strip lover in a relationship that was going nowhere and it took moving to a different state to realize it, or maybe this batch was just cooked differently.

Either way, I think next time we go I'll pick something else on the 2 for $22 menu.
